Admiralty Brass tubes – C44300

Description

Inhibited Admiralty Brass tubes – C44300 – has good corrosion resistance and is specially used for tubing of steam condensers cooled with fresh, salt or brackish water. Admiralty metal tubes are also used for heat exchangers in oil refineries, in which corrosion from sulfur compounds and contaminated water may be very severe, and for feed-water heaters and heat-exchanger equipment as well as other industrial processes.

C44300 copper tube, also known as HSn70-1 tin brass tube or navy brass tube, is a copper alloy tube with excellent performance. The following is a detailed introduction to C44300 copper tube:

1、 Chemical composition

The main chemical components of C44300 copper pipes include copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), tin (Sn), and trace amounts of arsenic (As) and other elements. Its specific chemical composition is roughly as follows:

Copper (Cu): about 69.0%~71.0%

Zinc (Zn): surplus, forms a solid solution with copper, enhances the strength of the alloy

Tin (Sn): 0.8% 1.3% (also known as 0.8% 1.2%), improves corrosion resistance

Arsenic (As): trace, usually about 0.03%~0.06%, further inhibits zinc removal corrosion and improves corrosion resistance

In addition, according to research and production practice, adding trace amounts of boron, nickel and other elements to C44300 can further improve its corrosion resistance.

Strong corrosion resistance: C44300 copper pipes exhibit high corrosion resistance in various environments such as atmosphere, steam, oil, and seawater. The addition of trace amounts of arsenic significantly inhibited the zinc removal corrosion of the alloy, thereby improving its corrosion resistance.

Easy to process: C44300 copper tube is easy to perform pressure processing in both cold and hot states, such as forging, casting, cold drawing, etc. Meanwhile, it is also easy to weld and lead weld.

4、 Precautions

Stress relief: C44300 copper pipes may experience stress after cold processing, therefore stress relief low-temperature annealing treatment is required to avoid stress corrosion cracking.

Control impurity content: During the manufacturing process, the impurity content should be strictly controlled to ensure the excellent performance of C44300 copper tubes.
